I'd like to share my new favourite thing with all y'all. I've known about Web Comics for ages now, but I've only just recently discovered how AMAZING some of them are. There are thousands of them out there, but a few of them are really quality and I've fallen head over heels for 'em. And the awesome thing is that most of the authors have accounts here on DA so they're easily contactable. So since I'm bored and haven't journal-ed in a while, here's a list of my favourites (in no particular order) for anyone who cares to check them out.

1. Archipelago by :iconthesilvertophat:  archipelagocomic.com/
My personal gateway comic. Can't remember how I stumbled on it, but boy am I glad I did! Up to nearly a thousand pages now, the updates are perhaps THE most dependable of any comic out there (Monday, wednesday and Friday) The art at the beginning of the story is pretty shaky, an artist finding her own style, but it progresses at an astounding rate to a unique and easy to read formate. Arch is set in a fantastical world full of strange creatures, spirits and demons. The main cast is a rag-tag group of friends brought together by events that took place thousands of years in the past. With Riley and Tuff the were-shark twins, Raven the ancient spirit of darkness, Blitz the mysterious amnesiacs,  Captain Snow the evil cyborg pirate, Archipelago is freaking awesome!

2. La Macchina Bellica by :icondeannaechanique: lamacchinabellica.com/
A current favourite, MB is a sort of steampunk-fantesy. It centres around a hand full of main characters and their daily lives. There's no real obvious plat yet, as the author is taking time to make you fall in love with her characters. And I am completely in love with them!! Military men on leave Aiden Devon and his partner (the kind that sleep together) Perth, bodacious sister Aubrey and mysterious rival Fachtna have truly captured my heart.

3. Winters In Lavelle by :iconkeshii: wintersinlavelle.com/
Adorable story about siblings Kari and Aiden who stumble into an alternate universe and get themselves trapped there with the strange dragon-princes, deer men and soldiers who are all out to get them.

4. Starfighter by :iconhamletmachine: starfightercomic.com/index.php (WARNING the site is 18+ for boy on boy action!!!)
Takes place in the distant future, and in SPACE! On board the space station is a world of grudges and bitter rivalries between hostile, likely very sexually frustrated men. This plus skin-tight leather flight suits leads to much tomfoolery. Codenames Cain and Abel are two such sexually frustrated men, one very hostile indeed, who are partnered up as navigator and fighter. As if that didn't sound good enough, Hamlet is a mind-blowingly talented artist as well.

5. Freakangels by :iconspoonbard: www.freakangels.com/ (rated mature for language, violence and nudity I think)
Post Armageddon story of a group of misfits with mysterious powers. Amazingly AMAZING art.

6. Sharkteeth by :iconfastpuck: sharkyteefs.smackjeeves.com/ (another 18+ for gay lovin'.)
Perfect character description straight from the author: "Pepper is 16, a whore, and completely pathetic. Ken is 24, an underground fighter, and a total asshole." lolololol it's perfect. So yeah, Sharkteeth is about sort of were-shark type people, Pepper who is a hooker/stripper for the shark mafia and Kensuke his new 'friend'.

7. The Meek by :iconshingworks: www.meekcomic.com/about/
"The Meek is a graphic novel about Angora, an inexperienced young girl who has been sent on a quest to save the world. War looms on the horizon, and at its helm is the Emperor of the North and his hellish adviser. The two countries are overwhelmed with as much terror, crime, disease and revolution as they are with those who wish to create peace. Armed with only her instincts and an unexplainable power, she must experience and judge the world—and decide once and for all if it is truly worth saving." I took that directly from the site because I'm getting lazy. GORGEOUS ARTWORK!!

8. Plume by :iconhandmade-crown: plumecomic.com/
Droolworthy art and intriguing characters set in the wild west. Yeah I'm really lazy.

9. Knights-Errant by :icontheyoungdoyler: knights-errant.smackjeeves.com…
"Details the lengths to which Wilfrid, a once exalted member of society, will go to reclaim favor with the courts. Inevitably involves Oswald, condottiere of the "Errant Knights" and other poor souls." LOVE THE ART SO MANY EXPRESSIONS!

10. Goodbye Chains by :icontracywillians: www.goodbyechains.com/index.ph…
"Colin Lord is a cheerful Boston Communist, and Banquo White is a cranky half-Mexican with no philosophy beyond hedonism. Somehow they have become partners in crime, spreading a reign of terror and dialectical materialism across the plains of Colorado. Follow their adventures with explosives and ladies--and, possibly, men." ITS SO SAD JUST READ IT

11. The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal by :iconbigbigtruck: www.tjandamal.com/
"In the span of a single day, Amal calls off his arranged marriage, comes out to his conservative parents, promptly gets disowned, goes on a bender... and wakes up the next morning to find TJ, a lanky, dreadlocked vagrant, frying eggs and singing Paul Simon in his kitchen. TJ claims that the two have made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence. As it happens, Amal promised his sister he'd be there for her graduation from Brown University. And TJ, well... TJ has his own reasons. The agreement is simple: Amal does the driving; TJ pays the way - but a 3500 mile journey leaves plenty of time for things to get complicated."

12. Unsounded by :iconShardGlss: www.unsoundedcomic.com/
"Thief-brat Sette Frummagem is on a mission, and she'll lie, cheat, and steal to make sure it's a success (she'll lie, cheat, and steal anyway). Condemned to aid her in her rotten endeavours is a rotten corpse who seems oddly talented with the supernatural, and oddly not laying motionless in the dirt. But the road is long and no one is what they seem. Never trust a thief, and never trust anyone who won't let you look into their eyes." WHY ARE PEOPLE SO TALENTED AT ART!!?

13: Fey Winds by :iconlelenia: www.feywinds.com/
"Fey Winds is a stark, brutal portrayal of the heartbreak caused by pet dander-- no wait--
Fey Winds is a silly fantasy webcomic that's halfway between spoof and epic adventure."

And there are more but I'm bored of this and I have to feed myself and then go to work. :P Bleh!

Okay, I'm going to try this out. I'm opening up point commissions if anyone is interested and I've got a basic price outline in mind to start with.

10 POINTS will get you the basic drawing, no colour or background. One character in a pose. And then beyond that, if you want additional things (colour, background, multiple characters) it'll cost additional points...

Every additional character +5 POINTS
Coloured +5 POINTS
Background (basic, like sitting on a couch or something) +5 POINTS
Background (full, like sky, forest, entire room) +15 POINTS

So for example, a coloured picture with two people sitting on a couch would cost (10+5 for extra character+5 for basic BG+5 for colouring) 25 POINTS.

I think those prices are reasonable. SO, if you're interested, please send me a note with all the necessary info! I will also keep doing art trades if you'd rather do that. :)

First, I spent a weekend at my friends VERY isolated mountain cabin in the interior. Had some good fun swimming, fishing, boating, tubing, but the highlight was learning how to drive an ATV!!!! It was pretty easy and SO FUN!! Now I really REALLY want one, but as I live in suburbia, I don't really have anywhere to drive one... :(

But ANYWAY, I want to know; If I were to try to open up point commisions, what do all of you think would be reasonable asking prices for the following, based on the level of my art? *discount for special people

1. Sketch (no colour or background)
2. Coloured (no background)
3. Full colour.
4. Multi-panel (like a comic page)

I'd really appreciate the input so, please comment? Thanks!!

Oh these days

1 min read
So my house is getting renovated over the summer. Complete overhaul and all that shiz. So we're skidaddling off to my cottage in the US. This, my friends, means no wireless internet unless I feel up to creeping onto my neighbours property and skulking around stealing their Wifi. SO you will probably not be hearing from me very often. AND that means no new arts for a while :( so sorry.

BUT, when they put my home back together again, I will be BURSTING with ideas so, BE PREPARED!! And lots of photo's, due to my brand spanking new Nikon D3100. And I mean LOTS. Like, "Stop filling my effing inbox with all these shite pictures of birds you Noob!!" kind of lots. >B) just a warning.
